MILESTONE SESSIONS - Colorado Children’s Photographer
I am super duper excited to be offering my Milestone Collection again! Getting to see these little squishy humans grow up during their first year is awesome (because who doesn’t love babies?!) PLUS it warms my heart knowing their parents will have lasting memories of a time where their baby changes so, so quickly. It literally honors me beyond measure!
So, what is my Milestone Collection?
While every photographer does things a little differently, I recommend photographing baby around these ages:
Newborn, 6 Months & 12 Months.
Age does play a role in scheduling, but we know that not all baby’s reach milestones at the same ages. With that in mind, I recommend parents don’t so much focus on age, but rather when their baby meets a new and exciting milestone!
(example: Sitting up, Standing, Walking etc.)
Below is a little about what you can expect at each of your milestone sessions:
NEWBORN SESSION
Newborn sessions take place between 2-3 weeks of age. Baby sleeps for most of this session, which is preferable, as awake babies don’t care much for being fussed with. Parents and siblings may also participate in this session if they wish to.
Newborn sessions take place at my studio in downtown Limon, CO
I provide absolutely everything we could possibly need for the session, including blankets, headbands, wraps, bonnets etc. We will discuss color preferences and such before I make my selections. Easy Peasy.
6 MONTH SESSION
Our second session will take place around 6 months when baby has mastered tummy time and is starting to sit up well on their own. I LOVE this session because….well, BABY ROLLS + SMILES.
In the cold winter months this session will take place indoors, and in the warmer months parents are offered an outdoor option as well. I also have an amazing client closet for these little guys which parents are able to borrow from. If you don’t like anything I have, you of course are able to use your own clothing OR use one of my recommended vendors to get something new for your session.
Typically, family and siblings do not participate in this session. It is a little shorter in length because babies at this age can become overstimulated pretty quickly. I really try not to drag the session out longer than necessary, and am able to work quickly to get the images we need, and send you back to your day.
1 YEAR SESSION
The big 1st Birthday!
I recommend this session take place after baby’s one year birthday. I encourage parents wait until baby is standing with little or no support before scheduling this session. Some parents also take this opportunity to include a little cake smash or balloons; just something celebratory to use as a prop.
This is another session where family is free to participate and update that family photo. By now, your baby will be looking like an entirely different human compared to their newborn images! This usually includes longer hair and toothy little smiles. They develop BIG personalities for this session and I definitely want to capture that!
Overall, milestone collections are a fantastic way to document your new babies 1st year. Another bonus: because you are booking them all at once as part of a collection, you will receive awesome discounts, incentives and bonus products that other sessions are not offered.
