It feels like just yesterday I was photographing Allen’s senior portraits, and now he’s engaged! I can hardly believe it. It’s always extra special when I get to capture another big milestone for someone I’ve known for years. When Allen and Alexis reached out for their engagement session, they knew exactly what they wanted—a rural setting that reflected their love for the countryside. Lucky for us, being neighbors made it easy to track down the perfect spots right here in Matheson, Colorado.

We kept the session short and sweet—just 30 minutes—but you wouldn’t guess it from the images we captured. The winter landscape, with its soft, earthy tones, set a stunning backdrop for this session. Old barns, open fields, and that peaceful rural charm made every shot feel timeless and authentic. Even though it was a quick session, we made the most of every moment, moving from one beautiful spot to the next as the winter light worked its magic.
