Avigail’s Senior Session | Penny Arcade Manitou Springs, Colorado

High School senior Avigail playing arcade games at the Penny Arcade in Manitou Springs, Colorado

Avigail had so much much playing arcade games at the Penny Arcade for her senior session…. And all pops of color are a senior photographers dream!

Senior portraits should be more than just photos—they should capture a senior’s story, personality, and the places that mean the most to them. For Avigail, a high school senior from Garden City, Kansas, that special place was Manitou Springs, Colorado, and more specifically, the Penny Arcade.

Having traveled to Colorado many times with her family, Avigail has countless fond memories of playing old-school games at the arcade and exploring the charming town. So when she decided to travel four hours to Limon, Colorado, for her senior portraits, we knew we had to turn it into a two-day senior session extravaganza, incorporating both natural beauty and meaningful locations.

Making Senior Photos Personal & Fun

There was quite a crowd at the Penny Arcade in Manitou Springs, Colorado. Getting clean images was tricky!

One of the things I love most about being a Colorado senior photographer is helping seniors bring their unique stories into their session. That’s why I always provide a Senior Welcome Guide to help them feel prepared, from picking outfits to choosing locations that truly represent them. Avigail followed the guide, and her session felt completely tailored to her personality and experiences.

For day one, we embraced Colorado’s natural beauty, starting in the stunning sunflower fields near Limon, Colorado—a must-have for Avigail. Sunflowers are vibrant, joyful, and full of life, just like her, and they provided the perfect backdrop for capturing this exciting time in her life.

Navigating the Penny Arcade in Manitou Springs

The horse races are one of Avigails favorite games at the Penny Arcade in Manitou Springs Colorado!

Day two was all about nostalgia and fun! We headed to Manitou Springs, where the Penny Arcade holds a special place in Avigail’s heart. Of course, things didn’t go quite as planned—when we arrived, we found out there was an art festival happening the same day! The area was packed with people, making parking a challenge and finding clear photo spots even trickier.

But that’s the beauty of traveling senior photography in Colorado—you have to be flexible and creative! We carefully navigated the crowds, found hidden corners of the arcade, and made sure there were no unintentional photobombers in the background. The result? Some seriously cool, urban, and retro-inspired senior portraits that Avigail absolutely loved.
