LOUTZENHISER
Some families just feel like “regulars” in front of my camera, and the Loutzenhiser crew is exactly that. I’ve had the privilege of photographing Kayle and her sweet, busy kids for several years now, and every session is full of energy, laughter, and a whole lot of love.
Last year, we went with a summer look—green fields, warm sunshine, and all the vibrance of the season. This year, Kayle decided it was time to mix things up and take advantage of my fall mini sessions. These sessions are short and sweet: just 20 minutes of shooting, but you walk away with a great variety of images at a price that’s hard to beat. They’re perfect for families like the Loutzenhisers who want updated portraits each year without the pressure of a full-length session.
We met down at Big Sandy Creek, which never disappoints this time of year. The changing colors along the creek created a gorgeous backdrop, and the Loutzenhisers’ outfit choices couldn’t have been better. The warm tones and coordinated layers worked perfectly with the scenery, making everything come together in a way that feels timeless. As an Eastern Colorado photographer, I love using locations like this because they highlight the natural beauty of our area while keeping the focus on the family.
The kids brought their usual energy—running, laughing, and keeping me on my toes—but that’s what makes these sessions so much fun. Photographing children isn’t about getting them to sit perfectly still; it’s about capturing their personalities in action. And these kids? They’re sweet, active, and so full of life. Those are the kinds of moments parents will treasure years from now.
Kayle is the kind of mom who clearly values documenting her family’s story, and it’s such a gift to see her little ones grow from year to year. That’s one of the best parts of being a Colorado portrait photographer—I get to walk alongside families as they change, preserving milestones and everyday moments alike.
While I spend a lot of time photographing in my Colorado photography studio, there’s something special about outdoor family photos in Colorado. Whether it’s a fall session with glowing leaves, a summer evening in wide-open fields, or even a snowy winter backdrop, each season brings its own unique beauty. Sessions like this one remind me why I love what I do as a Colorado professional photographer.
For anyone looking for a Colorado Springs family photographer or simply a professional photographer who values both quality and connection, fall mini sessions are a wonderful option. They’re quick, fun, and capture the heart of your family in a natural way.
Thank you, Loutzenhiser family, for another session full of joy and laughter. It’s always a treat to see you, and I’m already looking forward to the next time you’re in front of my camera. Watching your kids grow and capturing the little moments along the way is exactly why I love this work.
